Forth Album by The Verve

Posted on September 3, 2008. Filed under: Albums | Tags: , , , , , , , |

none of the previous three albums, not even Urban Hymns, sustained the brilliance of a handful of core songs.

The Verve is one of the biggest selling and more influential bands of the last ten years, they have reformed and recorded ‘Forth’ album, a strong and varied release, combining guitarist Nick McCabe’s sonic experiments with frontman Richard Ashcroft’s Britpop-esque balladry.

Third Album by Portishead

Posted on May 18, 2008. Filed under: Albums, Music | Tags: , , , |

The album is great, it’s their first release in 10 years, and their first studio album in 11 years.

It demands attention, requiring effort on the part of the listener, as this defies any conventions on what constitutes art pop apart from one key tenant, one that is often attempted yet rarely achieved: it offers music that is genuinely, startlingly original.

Third is the third studio album by English group Portishead, released on April 28, 2008 on Island Records .

It is their first release in 10 years, and their first studio album in 11 years. Equaling the performance of their first two studio albums in their native United Kingdom, Third entered the UK Album Chart at #2, and became the band’s first ever U.S. Top 10 album on the Billboard 200, reaching #7 in its entry week.

This is a good album, the mix of indie pop and dance music is great !
Don’t forget to buy it on May 19, 2008 when it will be released. 🙂

“We Started Nothing” is the debut album from indie pop duo The Ting Tings. Mixing pop and indie without diluting the power of either is no mean feat, but this album succeeds in spectacular style.

“Konk” is now number #1 on Uk ckart ! 🙂
“Always Where I Need to Be” is one of my favorite songs this year.

Here is a nice review from musicloversgroup.com

Konk is the second album by Brighton-based indie popsters The Kooks. It was released on April 14, 2008 on Virgin Records.
The album is named after the London studio where it was recorded, which is property of Ray Davies.
Produced at Ray Davies’ famous studio, the album is a sprightly yet assured follow-up to the platinum-selling Inside In/Inside Out.

Before the confirmation of the official title, the album was planned to be named That Chick, a reference to one of the album tracks.
The album name means “(E) Emancipation (=) equals (MC) Mariah Carey (²) to the second power”. 🙂

The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar – Soundscan’s biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah’s albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history.
